It was an eventful evening in the Bundesliga, with six goals and highlights almost every minute: Mönchengladbach beat Dortmund 4:2 (3:2) in the Borussia duel.

The Gladbach goals were scored by Jonas Hofmann (4th minute), Ramy Bensebaini (26th), Marcus Thuram (30th) and Kouadio Koné (46th).

Julian Brandt (19th) and Nico Schlotterbeck (40th) scored for BVB.

Dortmund is going into the World Cup break with an unsatisfactory starting position.

Edin Terzić's team missed the provisional leap into second place and could lose direct contact with the top group after victories of some competitors.

Gladbach winters in seventh place.

Anyone who had hoped for a spectacle in the opening game of the 15th matchday was satisfied early on: the first counterattack gave Gladbach the lead.

Lars Stindl served the hasty Hofmann, who deliberately scored (4th).

BVB quickly equalized – and how: Jude Bellingham crossed to Brandt from the ankle.

The national player, who was nominated for the World Cup in Qatar, accepted with his right thigh and completed with his left (19th).

Bensebaini was happy about an inadequate division of space in Dortmund and about his powerful header hit for renewed leadership (26th).

Hardly any breaks

After half an hour, the guest again became an effective counterattack.

Thuram had a free field against Dortmund who had moved up high and skillfully shook goalkeeper Gregor Kobel out.

The teams didn't give the fans a break - Nico Schlotterbeck, also in Qatar, reduced the lead after a set piece (40').

Jan Olschowsky was in Gladbacher Tor.

This benefited from the fact that regular keeper Yann Sommer and his representative Tobias Sippel were injured.

Shortly before the break he saved from close range against Donyell Malen (43rd).

In the first half Dortmund was the strong Borussia, Gladbach the clever because they knew how to use the gaps in BVB's defence.

Just 41 seconds after the break

The second half started as furiously as the first had ended.

Koné tunnelled Mats Hummels into his 400th Bundesliga game after 41 seconds.

Dortmund was shocked, the hosts were looking for a decision.

Thuram once again escaped Schlotterbeck and Hummels, released the ball in front of Kobel and missed the goal (52nd).

BVB coach Terzic risked everything after just under an hour and brought in Anthony Modeste for Schlotterbeck.

BVB ran, Gladbach was waiting for the decisive counterattack.

According to the TV pictures, referee Sven Jablonski did not recognize the alleged fifth goal of the hosts by Hofmann, Thuram had previously fouled Hummels (69th).
