Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar has admitted to expelling more than 17,000 Turkish military personnel on the pretext of associating with the preacher Fethullah Gulen, whom the Recep Tayyip Erdogan regime accuses of being behind the 2016 coup attempt.
`` 17,498 people have been expelled from the Turkish army since the coup attempt in mid-July 2016 until now, '' Erdogan news agency quoted Akar as saying, adding that the expulsions would continue until the Turkish army rid the so-called "traitors."
