The Cooperative Society for the Marketing of Vegetables and Fruits in Sweida set 25th of this month as the date to start receiving the apple crop from farmers for the current agricultural season.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors Hamad Al-Hudaweh told SANA today that the receiving operations will start from Shahba area to Zohr Al-Jabal area according to the date of harvest.
He pointed out that the association has more than 25 thousand boxes for packing and storing apples and is ready to receive all the quantities provided by farmers to help them in marketing their product as it is one of the outlets for marketing apples in the province and the quantities supplied annually vary according to the reality of the season.
The Directorate of Agriculture Sweida initially estimated the total production of the province of the apple crop at about 21259 tons.
