Activating the telephone network and the Internet in the city of Palmyra

Today, the General Organization for Telecommunications in Homs started activating the telephone network and the Internet in the city of Palmyra.

The director of the Palmyra phone center, Mohammed Saleh, told SANA that the corporation has done today an internet unit with a capacity of 512 gates for government departments and installed a temporary telephone network suspended temporarily that will serve 150 subscribers pending the extension of the main and sub-network for the entire city.

Saleh pointed out that starting from the middle of this month will be receiving applications wishing to subscribe to telephone lines and Internet gateways, noting that the institution installed a unit of optical access capacity of 1000 lines and will do the numbers of new lines for subscribers on their old subscriptions in order not to charge citizens the burden of paying a new subscription.

Saleh explained that the project to extend the permanent telephone network for the entire neighborhoods of the city will be initiated very soon in addition to a project to rehabilitate and maintain the building of the phone center of Palmyra, which was vandalized by the attacks of the terrorist organization "Daesh" before his defeat from the region.
