Jaime Vargas, president of the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (CONAIE), comments that the prisoners, wounded, missing and dead who left the recent protests were not in vain and therefore, they celebrate. In an interview with Carmen Aristegui, Vargas explains that the Government's decision to reverse economic adjustment measures is an opportunity to build a new agreement to resolve the country's economic affairs and in which all sectors participate. On Monday, October 14, the government of President Lenin Moreno repealed decree 883 that contained an economic package that had motivated an intense protest for 11 days in the South American country.
