TEHRAN: The 19th Tehran International Exhibition of Electrical Equipment (IEEE) opened today in the Iranian capital with the participation of about 460 companies.
The inauguration was attended by Minister of Electricity Mohammad Zuhair Kharboutli, who is currently on a visit to Iran, Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakianian, Iraqi Deputy Minister of Electricity Nafie Abdel-Sadeh and Syrian Ambassador to Tehran Dr. Adnan Mahmoud.
During a tour of the exhibition, Minister Kharboutli briefed him on the developments of the Iranian electric industries and the possibility of benefiting from them in boosting the electricity sector in Syria.
In a press statement, Kharboutli pointed out that many contracts have been concluded with some companies and other contracts will be concluded to supply their products in order to contribute to the development of the electrical system in Syria.
"There are aspirations for the implementation of plants and projects for renewable energies, whether solar or wind, and there is an intention to discuss the establishment of a wind station with a capacity of 100 megawatts," he said.
Kharboutli said that he held talks with the Iranian Minister of Energy on the establishment of a strategic partnership in Syria to produce some electrical equipment.
