(CNN Spanish) - Two carabineras were attacked with Molotov bombs in Plaza Italia, in the Chilean capital on Monday, Carabineros de Chile reported. The incident occurred after the demonstration was over, when a group of police officers were in the Plaza Italia sector protecting access to the Baquedano metro station, CNN Chile affiliated station reported.

Carabineros de Chile reported that the carabineras were rushed to the institutional hospital with severe facial burns.

This Monday there was a new day of protests in various parts of the capital of Chile. The protests do not cease in the country despite the measures that the president of Chile, Sebastián Piñera, has announced, including the cancellation of the transport increase that unleashed the demonstrations in the first place.
