A spokesman for the left now confirms what the CDU has been announcing for days: The Christian Democrats have rejected a call for talks to the CDU. CDU parliamentary leader Raymond Walk had rejected the offer in a letter to the left-chairwoman Susanne Hennig-Wellsow.
Walk confirmed that his party was not available for a coalition or other forms of cooperation with the left. The majority of the parliamentary group decided this Wednesday. That's what the letter cites as a reason for refusing a conversation, Walk said.
The left as electoral winner is trying to form a stable government. Her current red-red-green coalition wants to continue, but no longer has a majority: She lacks four votes in the state parliament. The Left has also invited the FDP for talks.
Mohring continues to campaign for a Zimbabwe minority government
CDU party and faction leader Mike Mohring wants to try a minority government with SPD, Greens and FDP, which, however, to a majority seven votes missing. The CDU's invitations to these three parties are on the way, Walk said.

Former Federal President Joachim Gauck encouraged cooperation with Ramelow. This was not noticed as a radical, said Gauck the "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung". "If the parties of the democratic center would now find compatible forms of cooperation or toleration with him, I would find that rather pragmatic."
The AfD is in his view not yet ready to participate in government offices. "The time has come for a co-government of the AfD but not yet, on the contrary: the party must clarify what it really stands for," said Gauck the newspaper.
