Sharm El Sheikh-Egypt-Sana
Three Syrian teams participating in the African and Arab Programming Championships, which concluded today in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, have qualified for the World Championships in Russia in 2020.
In a statement, SANA said that three Syrian teams representing the Virtual University and Damascus and Al-Baath universities were ranked among the top 15 teams and qualified for the World Programming Championship to be held in Russia next year.
140 teams from about 70 countries, including 15 from Syria, participated in the African and Arab Programming Championship.
The Syrian teams, in addition to Damascus, Baath and virtual universities, represented the universities of Tishreen and Aleppo and the Higher Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology, as well as a technical team involved in organizing and judging the tournament.
The tournament was held over two days and included two rounds and included a set of issues that require a high degree of analysis, logical thinking and software algorithms.
The competition is a way to bring together the smartest programmers from various universities and scientific institutions around the world and aims to promote creativity and teamwork, encourage new ways of building new software, enable students to test their abilities and performance under pressure and provide training and employment opportunities for large companies.
The software competition is nicknamed “War of Minds” and is more than just an academic and technological competition. It has become a platform for building a more collaborative global information society. Participants are not only required to solve issues, but to devise intelligent and effective ways to solve them.
