To celebrate the approaching birthday of the Messenger of Love and Peace, Christian communities today lit the Christmas tree in front of the Church of Archangels Michael and Gabriel for the Greek Orthodox in the American neighborhood of Latakia.
The Archbishop of Latakia, Athanasius Fahd, in a speech in front of the crowd, pointed out that the celebration with the title “Birth here” is an invitation to see the Syrian people how joy and feasts with all its components live in celebration of Christmas.
Fahd stressed that Syria has been and will remain the country of civilization, history and love that the civilization boats of its shores were launched to the world and from this coast.
Shadi Jabbour pointed out that the celebration expresses the love of the Syrians and their joy with the return of security and safety and their civilization, especially in Latakia, which launched from its beaches the messengers of love to the world.
Children who shared their celebration with the lighting of the Christmas tree expressed their joy in the atmosphere of love and holidays, including Nisreen Abdel Nour, who indicated that the atmosphere of the birth represents an opportunity to meet friends and participate in beautiful carnivals.
The ceremony was attended by member of the Central Command of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party, Hoda al-Homsi, Governor of Latakia Ibrahim Khader al-Salem, Secretary of the Latakia branch of the party, Dr. Muhammad Shreteh, Commander of the Governorate Police Major General Nabil al-Ghajri, Chairman of the Governorate Council, Engineer Tayseer Habib, a number of members of the People's Assembly and the provincial executive office, and civil and social activities.
