Meeting in Lübeck: Interior ministers call the fight to the right

2019-12-06T15:46:44.206Z

The interior ministers in Lübeck have been discussing three days: They want to work with the federal government against violence from the right and in the stadium. Internet providers should not only delete hate in the network, but show.

In the fight against right-wing extremism and anti-Semitism, the federal and state governments want to expand their cooperation. There is a great deal of agreement on the measures that have already been taken, said Federal Interior Minister Horst Seehofer (CSU) at the conclusion of the Conference of Interior Ministers in Lübeck. The threat situation is "very high and we take it very seriously".

After the terrorist attack by Halle, the interior ministers had informally agreed on a ten-point paper, which, among other things, provides for better protection of synagogues and increased cooperation between security authorities - including the police and the protection of the constitution. The separation requirement is not a cooperation prohibition, it was said.

In the fight against hate and hate in the network, Internet providers would not only be obliged to delete corresponding posts, but also to display them and pass on the IP addresses of the authors to law enforcement agencies. The federal states were thus behind corresponding plans of the Federal Government, which now deals with the Bundestag.

Ministers are considering penalties for pyrotechnics in the stadium

To counter the violence in stadiums, the ministers are considering criminalizing the burning of otherwise permitted pyrotechnics such as Bengalos at football matches. So far, this is only punishable as a misdemeanor. The ministers are concerned about the increase in attacks on referees in amateur football. Here, a nationwide picture of the situation should first be collected and analyzed.

Also, further punitive measures against violent offenders in sports are being considered. Baden-Württemberg, for example, had spoken out in favor of imposition of driving bans against rioters and chaotics and was supported by North Rhine-Westphalia.

There was also unanimity in the three-day meeting on other issues: "Whether it's right-wing extremism, child abuse, or clan crime, we will only solve it if we communicate together across national borders," said IMK Chairman, Schleswig-Holstein. Holstein's Minister of the Interior Hans-Joachim Grote (CDU).

Interior ministers want to extend deportation to Syria

The interior ministers want to extend the deportation ban to Syria for another six months. According to the foreign ministry, there is currently no region in civil war in Syria where refugees can return without risk.

The federal government is calling for them to create the conditions for deportees, serious offenders and people who returned to Syria for homeland visits to be deported. Endangering people are those whom the security authorities trust politically motivated crimes up to the terrorist attack. Currently, Germany does not even have diplomatic representation in Syria.

The ministers also called for an increase in the child abuse penalty. Entries in the Federal Central Register after a conviction for sexual abuse or in connection with child pornography should also be stored longer.

Among other things, criminal convictions are entered in the register. The authorities use this data when compiling their certificates of good conduct.
