Lighting of the Christmas tree in Ain Al-Ajouz village in the western Homs countryside

On the occasion of the approaching Christmas, a Christmas tree was lit this evening in the village of Ain Al-Ajouz in the western countryside of Homs, amid a large popular celebration.

Father John Chahoud, priest of the Ain Al-Ajouz Church, told the Greek Orthodox that the tree lighting is an annual tradition that takes place every year with the approaching of Christmas and New Year, stressing that the birth of Christ is a day of joy and love and expresses his hope that peace and security will prevail throughout the country.

In statements to SANA correspondent between George Hajal, the organizers of the event, that the tree height is about seven meters and was decorated and illuminated with the participation of community and youth activities in the village, stressing that the Christmas tree symbolizes the renewal of life, joy and peace.

A number of the people of the village who came with their children to witness the efficacy of the tree lighting expressed their happiness and joy in the coming Christmas Day, calling for peace to prevail throughout Syria.
