The Likud must return to a space campaign

If the Israeli right, and the Likud in his head, want to win on Tuesday, they must disconnect from Twitter and Facebook, and revert to the good old methods of an on-field election campaign, voting and direct confrontation with opponents. This is the lesson to be learned from Boris Johnson's successful election campaign in Britain, as well as the early stages of the Trump election campaign. They were not only satisfied with the tweets and videos, but scorched the area in direct contact with voters.

Trump is building his election campaign primarily on mass rallies, where he engages the audience with political entertainment shows, but repeats simple, catchy messages over and over. Johnson did not only settle for rallies and handshakes: he plowed Britain long and wide, including the traditional strongholds of Labor beyond the "Red Wall" in the industrial and agricultural areas of the north. He, too, repeated a simple and straightforward message: "Let's complete the barracks." Corbin, on the other hand, closed himself in "comfort zones," surrounded by people who like him in the bubble of group thinking, detached from the wishes of his voters.

In the last two election campaigns, the Likud has built its campaign mainly on social networks. Netanyahu has used his media skills impressively there, but a large part of the Likud's traditional electorate is not necessarily a consumer of social media. They are more exposed to television and radio - and there, usually, the message was uniform: Netanyahu and his family are corrupt, hedonistic, clinging to power and far from the people and everyday problems. This daily brainwashing did its own thing: veteran Likud voters abstained from voting or giving their votes to other parties. And so, although by all accounts the Israeli public is largely right-wing, the current impasse was created.

The Likud will not win the election if it does not return to a vigorous and comprehensive personal campaign, if it does not renew contact with national camp voters and if he does not try to convince new voters of the right-wing conceptual right. Even if the masses of Israel do not rush to election rallies because of the wintry weather conditions, they are still yearning for direct contact with their elected officials. It is the direct interaction that will convince that the current campaign in the current election campaign is not Netanyahu's personal struggle to prove his innocence, but the struggle of every Israeli and Israeli to defend democracy from the tyranny of officials, just as Johnson's victory is the triumph of the people's will over the British judicial system Prevent the transmission of barkite.

And another thing to learn from Johnson: In the wonderful biography he wrote about Winston Churchill - a common source of inspiration for him and Netanyahu, he refers to the electoral defeat that Churchill held in the post-World War II elections and states: "There are no elections to win The basis of a politician's achievements, but based on his promises for the future. " After two close election campaigns, people are well aware of Netanyahu's and Likud's achievements. Repeating them will not convince anyone to change their vote. A coherent plan of action and a commitment to addressing issues that have led to the impasse may be convincing.
