Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that the US sanctions on the Russian Gas Pipeline Project (Northern Stream 2) are an example of unfair competition and violate international law.
"Such measures do not appeal to Moscow or to European capitals, as well as Berlin and Paris ... such measures are in fact a direct violation of international law and an example of unfair competition and promote the artificial US hegemony in European markets," Sputnik quoted Piskov as telling reporters today.
Peskov stressed that work on the (Northern Stream 2) project would be completed and said, "We are starting that this project will be completed."
The "Northern Stream 2" project includes building two gas pipelines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas annually through the Baltic Sea, territorial waters or exclusive economic regions of Russia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Germany.
