Damascus-Sana
He combined the impressions and feelings of twenty-one political, cultural and media figures from various Arab countries about the city of Damascus, so that the book of the Damascene Messages would be a testimony and a greeting and a response from the members of their faithful family in their plight and embrace them as a compassionate mother.
Eng. Tareq Al-Ahmad, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Syrian Civil Society, introduced the symposium to the association, which was established in 2015 with the aim of confronting destructive and takfiri ideology, raising awareness and promoting belonging to Syria before any other affiliation.
As for Jalloul, he indicated that the Damascene messages were issued in late 2016 and the delay in celebrating it due to the circumstances of the war on Syria, indicating that the idea of preparing the book emerged as a result of its association with the city of Damascus since its youth and its role in his life, as was the case for many of those who contributed to his texts in the book. He described his preparation as very enjoyable because he discovered a number of writers whose feelings of love reflect a number of facts, but confirm all the role of the intellectuals in defending Syria against the global war and that sincere and loving expression is a powerful means to fight terrorism.
Then read each of the right and Jalloul and clip selected extracts from their texts contained in the book, which dominated the emotional side and sensory expression and appeared clearly attached to Damascus and their love with them.
The event concluded with a book signing ceremony in the exhibition hall of the Visual Arts Center.
The symposium was attended by ambassadors of the Czech Republic, Venezuela, Bolivarian and Yemen in Damascus, party leaders and members of the People’s Assembly.
