Eng. Abdul Moeen Qadmani, Director of Plant Production at the Ministry of Agriculture, has indicated an increase in the cultivated areas of wheat and barley for the current season compared to the previous season as a result of the return of farmers to their areas and the conditions of security and stability that prevailed in most important agricultural areas in addition to the amount of rain falling as the rate of implementation of the wheat cultivation plan this season reached to 57 percent of the planned scheme of 1801094 hectares and in the barley cultivation plan to 86 percent of the 1499,866 hectares planned to be cultivated and the process is still ongoing.

In a statement to SANA Economic Bulletin, Qadmani said that the total area planted with wheat amounted to 1027187 hectares until the 25th of this month, corresponding to 787725 hectares in the same period of the previous season, an increase of about 240 thousand hectares, and this increase was distributed to Aleppo Governorate by more than 100 thousand hectares, then Hasaka by about 70 A thousand hectares, the tenderness with 44 thousand hectares, and Deir Al-Zour with 23 thousand hectares, pointing out that the area of ​​irrigated agriculture amounted to about 422 thousand hectares out of the 894 thousand planned to be cultivated, with a rate of implementation of 47 percent, while the rainfed cultivation area reached more than 605 thousand hectares out of the scheme of 907 thousand Ha, with a 67 percent implementation rate.

With regard to the barley crop cultivation plan, Qadmani explained that the majority of the area was concentrated in Hasaka governorate with a total of 445 thousand hectares out of 358 thousand planned to grow, with a implementation rate of 124 percent, Aleppo followed by 360 thousand hectares and a percentage of implementation of 90 percent. One thousand hectares, and the implementation rate of 97 percent, pointing out that the percentage of implementation of rain-fed barley cultivation reached 86 percent, while it reached 79 percent for irrigated agriculture.
