The rise of the sea waves, as a result of the weather conditions prevailing in Tartous Governorate since yesterday evening, led to the entry of water to a number of alleys and lanes on the western and southern sides of the island of Arwad.

And the mayor of the island, Khaled Baso, stated that the waves' height exceeded six meters, which is something that the islanders are used to.

Al-Mukhtar added: The people are usually preparing for such cases, as they have sufficient supplies of food and drink for several days, and the shops in the island have enough needs of the people for food, food, vegetables and fruits until the storm ends, no matter how long.

The Directorate of Maritime Ports closed all ports in Lattakia and Tartous to maritime navigation due to the prevailing weather conditions and wind speed.
