(CNN) - A 19-year-old boy in Texas, identified as Eduardo Arévalo, confessed to the police that he murdered his 23-year-old pregnant sister, "because of a family conflict," authorities said in a statement.
Arévalo also told police that he took Viridiana Arévalo's body out of the area of The Colony, a suburb about 48 miles north of Dallas, so they wouldn't find out, according to the statement.

"The only reason (Eduardo) gave to kill her was that she was a shame for her family and he declared that it would be better if she wasn't here," said Colony Sergeant Aaron Woodard to KTVT, a CNN affiliate.
Viridiana Arévalo, who was eight months pregnant, was reported missing on December 17, and after an extensive search her body was discovered in an alley at 7:43 am five days later.
Previously, Eduardo Arévalo told police that he had moved his sister's body from the initial place where he left it to that alley where it was found, according to the statement.

After Viridiana Arévalo was reported missing, authorities found a note in the family home that was initially thought to be suicide, Woodward KTVT said.
Eduardo Arévalo "later confessed to having written the note," Woodward added in KTVT statements.
Arévalo is being held in The Colony prison and is charged with capital murder, according to police. You may face additional charges.
CNN has contacted The Colony police to confirm the legal representation of Eduardo Arévalo. It is not known if he has a lawyer at this time.
