Panic of the flu: A 26-year-old is in serious condition due to complication of the disease

A 26-year-old woman after birth was hospitalized today in a severe condition following flu, when she is euthanized and breathed, at Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer. This is another case of influenza disease, after the death of a one-and-a-half-year-old baby from the center yesterday, as well as a 14-year-old girl and 19-year-old who have also died of flu in recent days.

The sequence of events has led to an increase in the number of patients in the health funds. In the general health fund, the number of vaccines in the current season stands at 930,000 people. In light of the high number of vaccines registered yesterday, more than 30,000 in some of the clinics have run out of vaccines. At the checkout they said that "we take care of replenishing inventory and mobile vaccines."

At Maccabi Health Services, we had more than 12,000 customers in just four hours. Due to the high demand for influenza vaccines in the past day, Maccabi Health Services has ordered an additional 45,000 vaccines to be distributed by the end of the day to medical centers across the country.

Maccabi patients reported that according to the rate of the vaccines from the morning, the expected number of vaccines is 18,000 by the end of the day. Nationally, we have had 4,400 clients today - a 40% increase since yesterday, so we have 3,200 patients.

Dr. Angela Urbani, Maccabi's head of nursing and medical centers, said: "We are pleased that the public is showing high awareness and responsibility and is seeking to be vaccinated, and is grateful to Maccabi members for the patience they show in light of the high demand in nurses' clinics."

She added that "the flu vaccine is the most effective way to protect ourselves and those around us from the disease and its consequences. It is first and foremost recommended for at-risk groups: chronic patients, 65 years and older, pregnant women and children from the age of six months."

Yesterday, a one-and-a-half-year-old baby died from a complication of the flu after arriving at Kaplan Hospital on the streets in a human condition. After the resuscitation operations were performed, the medical team had to determine her death. In addition, a 14-year-old girl with background illness died at Sheba in Tel Hashomer, and later a 19-year-old died at Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem.

According to data from the Health Ministry, 97 patients in serious condition were enrolled in the current flu season, of which ten died. Last year, 45 patients were in serious condition and 17 died as a result of the disease. In 2017, 77 patients were in serious condition and 37 people died.
