The Cyprus court ruled that the 19-year-old British woman, who admitted that Israeli young men had raped her at a hotel in Ayia Napa, would be prosecuted for misconduct in a false testimony in public. The court rejected the young woman's version that the police had pressured her to return her from the rape complaint she initially filed and ruled that she was unreliable.

The young woman claimed that detectives had pressured her to sign the confession stating that she would lie in her first testimony about the rape because of the police threat to create her friends. The punishment in Cyprus for such offenses can amount to a year in prison.

Remember, last July, the young woman complained to police against 12 young people from Israel, after allegedly raping her in a hotel room in Ayia Napa town. After a few days, there was a dramatic development in the affair, when the young woman admitted that she had confessed to the rape and told police that she had filed the complaint to take revenge on the young men who had photographed her without her permission.

The young woman's family launched a mass-funded campaign for her legal defense after her lawyer retired from the case because of "difficult disagreements." They raised £ 30,000, and hired the services of British lawyer Lewis Power and lawyer Michael Pollack.
