In a meeting with the drivers' representatives this morning, the Prime Minister's Office asked to review their claims in order to come up with a solution already during the day • Protesters: "delaying mass reform"

Taxi drivers protest: Prime Minister's Office has called on taxi drivers not to disable activity across the country for now. Following a meeting of representatives of taxi drivers and officials at the Prime Minister's Office, Transport and Finance, this morning (Monday) it was decided that the Prime Minister's Office will review the protests. The firm undertook to make a statement on the matter during the day with the intention of reaching a solution.

The taxi drivers committee urged drivers to be patient and wait at least one day for the office's response. If no solution is found - the protest will start tomorrow.

Taxi drivers' protest comes in light of the new Transport Ministry decisions, under which a new counter will operate. The drivers say the decisions will hurt their wages and their revenue will fall by 30 percent.

"We flattened out all the problems and suggested, among other things, to wait a few months for the new meter to be installed," said the taxi drivers' representatives. "The Prime Minister's Office will discuss the matter, at our request, to find a formula that will help us. We suggested that only after moving to digital counters, within a few months, we install them for all taxi drivers, check the data and then find out whether the cost of inter-city travel will indeed rise by 13 percent and the price Urban travel has dropped by only six percent, and not as we think - the meter will work the opposite. "

If the negotiations fail, about 6,000 drivers will be seated tomorrow from 10am to 4pm and will have a demonstration ride in the afternoon in Tel Aviv, which will pass by the municipal building and the Azrieli Center and are expected to cause traffic disruptions throughout the city.
