Protests escalated in front of the American embassy in Baghdad to condemn the American aggression against the headquarters of the Popular Mobilization in Anbar Province, western Iraq.

An Iraqi security source told Alsumaria News that the second section of the American embassy was burned.

Since this morning, Iraqi demonstrators gathered in front of the Washington embassy in Baghdad, calling for the embassy to be closed and the American ambassador expelled from Iraq, while dozens of demonstrators were injured by tear gas canisters fired from inside the embassy.

Thousands of demonstrators stormed the crowd of the martyrs of the popular crowd and surrounded the American embassy, burned one of its gates, and wrote on its walls "closed by order of the people." Then they started building a sit-in tent in front of the building, and they also burned the embassy garage, according to a security source.

The angry demonstrators chanted slogans condemning the American arrogance and Zionist aggression, demanding the expulsion of the American ambassador and the embassy staff from Iraq.

Earlier, the number of those injured after shooting and smoke bombs from inside the American embassy rose to 32, according to the crowd.

To that, Jabbar al-Maamouri, head of the Iraqi Association of Muslim Scholars, confirmed to the SANA correspondent in Baghdad that "the protesting mourners want to deliver a message to the world exposing the aggressive practices of Washington and its contempt for the sovereignty of Iraq and the blood of its young sons who defeated the terrorist gangs of ISIS."

For his part, Salam al-Shammari, an Iraqi parliamentarian, said: “The time has come for the Iraqis to decide their destiny without foreign interference.” He added: “The most important step that needs to be taken in the coming weeks is the Iraqi parliament’s vote to cancel the ill-fated security agreement with the United States of America.”

In turn, the Iraqi Parliamentary Alliance asserted in a statement today that the United States does not abide by international covenants, considering that what happened today in front of the American embassy in Baghdad is a reaction to the American targeting of the headquarters of the crowd in Anbar.

The popular crowd in Iraq announced the day before yesterday that its sites were bombed by American planes marching west of Al-Anbar Governorate, which resulted in martyrs and wounded among the crowd.
