Horrifying: In a fire that broke out in the Krefeld Zoo in West Germany, many animals died while imprisoned in their cages. Local media reported that the fire probably broke out because of fireworks fired on New Year's Eve.

The garden noted that the nearby gorilla was not on fire and the gorilla family he lived in survived.
Following the difficult event, the zoo posted on its Facebook page a special mourning message that reads: "Tonight one of our biggest fears came true. An unimaginable tragedy happened to us after midnight. All of our monkey house burned down.
