(CNN) - A British lawmaker has revealed that she is pansexual and has a relationship with a woman.
"About six months ago I started a relationship with a woman, and that was quite surprising, because before that I had only had boyfriends," Layla Moran, a member of Parliament of the Liberal Democratic opponents, told the PinkNews LGBT website.
Someone who is pansexual is attracted to people of any gender. According to Stonewall, the main LGBT charity in Britain, the term "bread" refers to "a person whose romantic and / or sexual attraction to others is not limited by sex or gender."

According to the LGBT Foundation charity, Moran is the first openly pansexual parliamentarian.

The parliamentarian added that she was worried about what colleagues would think in Parliament, describing it as a "strange place and vice versa," but said there were some legislators in lesbian relations who acted as role models.
A spokesman for Moran told CNN that he would not comment further.
According to the LGBT Foundation, pansexuality is different from bisexuality, although the two are not mutually exclusive. "Being bisexual means being attracted to more than one gender, while being pansexual means being attracted to people regardless of gender," the foundation wrote on its website.
