There is no factor in his jaw area when he heard of Kassem Suleimani's assassination • The image of the "living shahid" inside a coffin foreshadows not only the removal of a top evil star - but also the return of the US to influence the area. Side • Interpretation

The elimination of Kassem Suleimani is the kind of rare events that change reality and make what was previously irrelevant. It is now necessary to re-evaluate almost every premise and convention.

That was, in a huge gap, the most significant elimination ever made in the Middle East. Much more important than the assassination of Osama bin Laden or Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Bin Laden may have been famous from Sulaimani, but his elimination was mostly revenge. When he was killed, he was headed by a decaying organization that had far exceeded its present and future. Baghdadi was also mainly a symbol of the organization whose future was in his past.

Suleimani, on the other hand, was a top star. He felt that way, and he behaved that way. The few people whose influence on the area they live in is so dramatic; Even fewer who do this when they are not heads of state. Suleimani was one of those: his fingerprint felt well wherever he touched.

Suleimani was very talented, very charismatic, goal-oriented and blindly loyal to her. He fulfilled his role - responsible for exporting the revolution outside the borders of Iran - with great success, far beyond what his despatchers dreamed. He was a combination of an excellent military strategist and a savvy politician, who made good use of the winding-up of the region (most notably the "Arab Spring") to build dramatic power and influence.

Along with his power from home - a result of his personal closeness to the spiritual leader Khamenei, whom he saw as a son - Suleimani became one of the important people in the region. It is far more important than most heads of state, some of whom have feared to develop and most have been afraid of him. He has been involved in appointing governments in Yemen, Iraq and Lebanon, rescuing President Assad's regime and influencing the daily reality of every country, from Yemen and Afghanistan in the east to Lebanon and Gaza in the west. His fingerprints were also felt far beyond that: in terrorist infrastructures that he placed on five continents and should serve Iran on a day of command, which may now come.

Nasrallah and Assad are in shock

Also from the Israeli angle Suleimani was the No. 1 enemy, and a huge gap. He is chiefly responsible for turning Hizbullah into a guerrilla army with more than 100,000 rockets and rockets and elite units, to finance Islamic Jihad (and partly Hamas) in Gaza, and to the idea of Iranian consolidation in Syria aimed at establishing another active front against Israel.

In Israel, the idea of his elimination was often entertained according to foreign publications. When Hezbollah's chief of staff, Imad Mourniyeh was eliminated in 2008, Israel could also kill Suleimani along with him. According to foreign publications, because it was an Israeli-American joint operation, the White House did not approve of the Iranian senior, and his life was saved. We are often seen in the northern sector - sometimes in Lebanon, sometimes in the Syrian Golan - touring the area with his men, who admire him and see him.

Suleimani probably feared that Israel was following him, but fear was not his characteristic. The "living shaheed" called him Khamenei, for his exceptional courage and willingness to venture for the cause. In spite of his seniority, he made sure to reach the ground: to meet people, to see with eyes, to influence reality. He has been a patron, sponsor and mentor to so many causes in the area, most of them negative, that most of them now feel a bad sense of orphanhood. Hassan Nasrallah saw him as a close brother, and for Bashar Assad he was the guardian angel; The reality of both will now be far more complicated without his near presence.

But beyond Suleimani's (immense) importance, his elimination is dramatic because he heralds the return of the United States to influence in the region. Saudi Arabia, along with the withdrawal from the Kurdish region of Syria and the intention to withdraw from Iraq, also strengthened the negative route led by Russia and Iran.

Suleimani, who recognized this as weakness, decided to tail the Americans. Their presence in Iraq interfered with his plans to establish a continuous continental corridor between Iran - through Iraq and Syria - to Lebanon and the Mediterranean, so he chose to hit them. Through the Iraqi Shiite militias, which he financed and trained, he recently launched a series of attacks against bases and installations in which US troops and contractors operated. He hoped that these moves would also divert internal public opinion from the criticism (accompanied by mass demonstrations) about Iran's presence in Iraq, toward the US.

Opportunity to return to negotiations

This provocation, culminating in the scheduled assault last week on the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, cost Sulimani his life. He did not expect it, nor did anyone else: no area in the region, including in Israel, whose jaw was not dropped when he heard of Sulimani's assassination. Just an exception to the familiar scale of counter-reactions and reactions in the region: during this, President Trump invented a new scale, whose influence far exceeds the borders of the Middle East and the Persian Gulf.

The Iranian response to the liquidation was expected. Shock, then promises of revenge. Iranians need to be taken seriously: They are a bitter, determined, and capable enemy, and they are likely to seek to send Americans home in their national flags' cabinets to influence American public opinion in an election year. Anyway, as he said, so he planned to do Sulimani as well.

But the Iranians are not suicides. They will choose to hurt, but will not risk the US going crazy again, especially when a serious economic crisis and severe internal criticism (including Suleimani's work, the billions he spent on the projects he led at the expense of Iran's citizens) have been dealt with.

In fact, it could be an opportunity. Return Iran to negotiations on a new and better nuclear deal, an intergovernmental agreement to keep it out of Syria, and a little more logic to a host of leaders - from Pyongyang to Ankara and Moscow - who mistook the US for fear of losing or losing control of the world.

In this state of affairs, Israel is doing well when it sits aside. There is little likelihood that any of Suleimani's subordinates in Syria or Gaza will attempt to respond by launching rockets, but in a big way - this is an American event, and it is good. Israel must continue to engage in its wars and enemies, who have lost their most significant player. In this aspect, and not only, the world without Suleimani is a much better place.
