It was Tehran's revenge for the elimination of Qods Force chief Qassem Suleimani, and she made it clear that she would no longer respond if Washington did not respond as well.
Suleimani's assassination brought both countries close to a military conflict, and the international community called on the parties to avoid escalation. Iran's allies, including Iraqi and Syrian militias, expressed support for its response, which ended without casualties, according to US and Iraqi sources. However, in Iran, "dozens" of American soldiers are killed, without any basis.
