A real first step towards the UK's exit from the EU: The lower house of the British Parliament, also called the House of Representatives, on Thursday approved the Barakzite agreement, which will allow the United Kingdom to withdraw from the EU.

This is a first operative step towards the UK's exit from the Union, with Queen Elizabeth and the High House of Parliament, also known as the House of Lords, subsequently approved.

This achievement, attributed to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and to his conservative party, was largely made possible in light of the recent UK election results of December 12, 2019, with Johnson winning his vote with his rival, Labor leader Jeremy Corbyn. The polls, released immediately after the polls closed, predicted the Conservative Party 368 seats in the next parliament. This is a steady majority of 86 delegates, 50 more than the Conservatives who achieved in the previous elections in 2017. 326 seats in parliament are required to obtain an absolute majority. This is one of the Conservative Party's biggest electoral achievements in the last two decades.

Following the defeat in the election, Labor chairman Corbyn announced that he would not head the party in the next election, but would continue to lead the party in the lesson-making process "clearly a very disappointing night," Corbyn stated after winning his party in his constituency in London.

About two and a half months ago, in October, the UK and the EU managed to reach a new agreement for the UK's departure from the EU. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said at the end of the hectic negotiations that the parties were conducting: "We have an excellent deal that will allow us to regain control of our destiny."

Barcasit had staunch opponents in the British Parliament. About two months ago, a group of 35 British European MPs belonging to the opposition parties opposing the Barcasite sent a letter demanding that they not reach an agreement and extend the three-month extension to allow the Barcasite opponents to leave the EU. The letter writers justified their request that Johnson does not represent the entire British nation and now heads a minority government. "All opposition parties want to hold a second referendum on the Barracks," the letter said, "and public opinion polls show that most of the British public will probably vote on staying in the Union. We ask the European Council to give the British democracy enough time to complete the process."

This opposition, as mentioned, was marginalized after last December's election, which credited Johnson and his party with a majority of more than 80 delegates in Parliament over the Labor party.
