Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi strongly condemned the new US sanctions against Iranian citizens and companies.
Mousavi said in a statement today, "The Americans followed a pattern of unilateral, unlawful and ineffective behavior and insisted on it," noting that recent sanctions were imposed on industries that affect the lives of millions of Iranians and ignore all international rules and standards and are a clear violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2231 and revealed the hostile face of America clearly.
Mousavi stressed that the unilateral measures taken by the United States have now become a problem for the international community and will not reach any result through them.
Trump has threatened to impose more "severe" economic sanctions on Iran and said that his country does not want to use military force, saying that its economic power is "the best deterrent."
The United States announced yesterday to impose new economic sanctions against Iran in the context of the hostile policies pursued by Washington against independent countries that are not following its path.
