Three vehicles collided on Changqing Highway, five injured and many people were trapped and traffic was once congested

Five people were injured in a three-vehicle collision on the Changqing Highway. At 6 am on Friday (17th), a Mini Cooper private car, a taxi, and a Toyota Hiace van were traveling along the Changqing Tunnel towards Tuen Mun. Shortly after leaving the tunnel, three vehicles collided successively as they passed the Changqing Highway near the northwestern junction of Tsing Yi.

After the accident, the van turned over and the taxi body was severely damaged. Many people were trapped inside the car and needed to be rescued by firefighters. A total of three men and two women were injured in the accident. Four of them were taxi drivers and passengers, and the remaining one was a van driver. Some of the injured persons lay on the ground for rescue. They were then treated by ambulancemen and sent to the hospital. Fortunately, everyone was awake. No injuries were reported.

Sources said that the accident was suspected of involving a line-cutting problem. The vehicle on the fourth line was driving. The private car collided with the taxi first. The private car crashed into the roadside afterwards, and the taxi stopped on the road. A van arrived and was unable to catch the taxi on the road. The two cars crossed the second and third lanes. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

The Transport Department announced at 7.13 am that due to traffic accidents, Lines 1, 2 and 3 of Cheung Tsing Highway towards the airport near Jin Zhu Kok are still closed; motorists can only use the remaining lanes to drive; there is traffic congestion at the present site . At about 8:30 in the morning, the vehicle involved in the accident had been removed and the vehicle queue had to be dissipated.
