Today, Iraqi President Barham Saleh appointed Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi to head the Iraqi government.
The Iraqi News Agency (INA) quoted Allawi as saying in a televised statement that "I have been formally mandated by the President of the Republic to form the new government," indicating that he will work "with great honesty" to achieve the interests of the Iraqi people and fight corruption.
It is noteworthy that Allawi won the membership of the Iraqi Parliament in 2006 and was Minister of Communications in 2010 and submitted his resignation from the Ministry of Communications in 2012.
