Interview at the Stade de France press conference
What analysis do you make of this match?
Fabien Galthié : Our first period is almost perfect. We make two management errors on the game at the foot and the occupation that we pay cash with two tries cashed. Our second half is less consistent. The team was jostled by the Italians. It was more complicated.
Are you disappointed with the offensive animation?
The team has taken a lot of initiatives in the conclusion zone, where you have to play fair. Four of our five trials are in this area. But we have waste. It is part of the findings.
And by discipline, with 10 conceded penalties?
We were more punished than against England ( 7, editor's note ). Because we were less harsh. At the start of the match, defensively, you gain meters, you win balls, making them move back. In the second half, we let them enter the defensive curtain, we let them move forward, and we get caught logically on the offside line or in the rucks.
" We have the material to work and develop our potential "
What is your assessment of the first two matches?
It's difficult to take stock after just two games… But our goal is to win. With two victories, we are therefore 100% satisfied with the final result. After, with seven big training sessions and two matches, we have the material to work on and develop our potential.
Serin and Jalibert, authors of a good comeback, were launched late. Why didn't you coach the hinge earlier?
We chose a bench with six forwards and two three-quarters. It was a risk. So it took a long time to get them in. Despite this, we finish the last minutes at 14 ( after the injury to wing Vincent Rattez, note ). But we decided to bring them in to give them a little playing time. They made a good comeback, indeed. They brought us their vision of the field, their freshness, their desire to carry this team, to lead the game. These entries were very satisfactory.
What news is there from Vincent Rattez?
He sprained his right ankle. He could not resume play.
