This is not the big snowfall that the Hermon site won, nor the white flakes that appeared in the northern Golan Heights. The attention of forecasters and weather enthusiasts in the current system is subject to the extreme wave of cold that has plagued our region. The reason for the extreme cold: Particularly cold air that came to us straight from Russia through Turkey.

The peak of the cold wave will be at night (Monday), and forecasters estimate that temperatures in the Golan Heights will drop to minus 5 degrees, in Jerusalem they will drop to minus 2 and so will Safed, and that there may be light snow, especially at the summits of the central mountains.

Yesterday's light snow began to fall in Safed in the afternoon, especially in the city's high neighborhoods, and the temperature now in the area is just over half the zero. The municipality of Safed has announced that at present all the deputies are open and there are no special disruptions. Snow also began to fall in Misgav Am, and at Kibbutz Malkia in the Galilee Mountains, which is 700 meters above sea level.

The social services staff of Safed Municipality and the Department of Senior Citizens distributed hot equipment to the city's elderly, Holocaust survivors and needy families. Among other things that were distributed: ovens, blankets, coats, socks, gloves and scarves.

"A situation assessment was followed which we postponed the beginning of the school day in the communities of Rum, Ruby, Neve Ativ and Nimrod and we monitor the situation all the time," said Haim Rokach, Golan Regional Council head. "I recommend coming to the Golan to drive carefully, considering the conditions of the road and especially to enjoy our beautiful winter."

At the same time, the Jerusalem Municipality has decided that schooling will begin tomorrow at nine in the morning, following a situation assessment led by Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Leon, where municipal administrators and the parent organization's representative discussed the weather's updated data - expected cold intensity, ice accumulation on the surface And the roads, the state of the infrastructure and the availability of transportation.

Due to the extreme weather and cold weather, emergency crews were held in the local authorities in Haifa and its surroundings, Wadi Ara, Carmel Coast, Zebulun Valley, the Krayot and the western Galilee and northern coastal plains. Currently, kindergarten and community studies will be conducted as usual unless other guidelines have been issued in accordance with the weather.

Emergency crews were preparing for the possibility of snow falling on the Carmel and Western Galilee mountain peaks, in case some ice and frost covered the main roads and transport routes. Emergency crews were pre-equipped with special snow and ice clearing equipment as well as for removing ice from the main traffic jams.

It has also been reported that in many authorities there has been a possibility of rainfall in quantities that will cause flooding and roadblocks and traffic jams will be needed in order to prevent the driver's public from getting into areas that could be affected by extreme weather damage and could endanger them.

In the lowlands and in the Lachish, too, there is a cold wave in Israel: the authorities have ordered their employees to remain on alert in cases of power outages due to a load, and in the event that seniors and residents of the street will need help for hypothermia. The urban centers have been prepared to respond quickly to such a population in the event that they encounter a problem of lack of heating in their homes. In addition, they warned that there was a concern that cold heels would create ice on the roads.

Even the people of the Hermon site accustomed to a great deal of snow and intense cold, find it hard to believe that the night is expected on the mountain minus 9 degrees on the upper level, and minus five on the bottom. The snow that has been falling over the past two days has brought the snow level at the upper level to one and a half meters and one meter to the lower level.

Alongside the site warnings, tomorrow (Monday) the site will open for surfers and visitors as the surfing routes, cables and facilities open according to weather conditions. The site's management is asking the public to exercise caution on the road leading to the site due to the danger of ice skating that has accumulated on the roads.

In Eilat, too, a cold day was recorded in relation to the southern city. The sun was shining this morning, but even the European tourists who had come on holiday from snowy Europe and were accustomed to walking around the city in short clothes and sunbathing on the seashore, noted a lie to them as usual. Evening hours are expected to be 7 -9 degrees in Eilat and 2-3 degrees in the mountains of Eilat. During the night there is a possibility of rain in the Arava and Eilat mountains.

Today will continue to be particularly cold

Today will be cloudy and continue to be especially cold. From the north of the country to the Negev, slight drips and rain are still expected. At the summits of the northern and central mountains, there may still be light snow.

On Tuesday it will be cloudy with a slight increase in temperatures but will continue to be colder than usual. During the day, local rain is expected in the north and center of the country. Wednesday will be partly cloudy and there will be a marked increase in temperatures, mainly in the center of the country and the south. Local rainfall will continue to fall in the north of the country.

And in the UK, the storm is "Ciara", considered to be the strongest in the Kingdom of Ireland and Ireland in recent years, with winds of 156 mph, causing flooding, power cuts and property damage.
