The wave of bad weather affecting Puglia has brought the first snowflakes to the Murgia in the north of Bari, between Minervino Murge and Spinazzola.
There are no traffic disruptions and schools are open as usual.
In the areas surrounding Minervino, the snow has settled on the fields and roads which are still passable.
In Spinazzola the flakes have whitened the streets and roofs without causing inconvenience to the population who today celebrate their patron saint San Sebastiano.
Due to the patronal feast the schools are closed here.
There are no particular critical issues reported in the province of Avellino which was affected by particularly heavy snowfall in Alta Irpinia and the Arianese area in the early hours of this morning.
Since yesterday evening, the Civil Protection has been supplying the Municipalities with salt, starting from those most affected by the disturbance, and has been monitoring, together with the police, the main mountain arteries, starting with the Ofantina state road which connects the capital of Irpinia to the Alpine municipalities.
Snow at low altitude, particularly intense on the Partenio and Terminio mountains and on the Laceno plateau, in the municipality of Bagnoli Irpino.
Schools closed throughout the province.
Sharp drop in temperatures in Sannio where, even at low altitude, the first snow appeared.
Strong winds and rain have also been affecting several municipalities in the province of Benevento since yesterday evening.
The snowiest areas are the Matese chain, Taburno and Fortore.
Frost coming to Sardinia, civil protection alert
Frost warning in Sardinia, due to the low temperatures expected in the next few hours due to the cold front that is already affecting the northern part of the island, with a few snowflakes on Gennargentu.
After a morning of rain and sunny spells, the mercury should drop further during the night throughout the region with further snowfalls expected even at hilly altitudes.
The regional Civil Protection has issued a warning of adverse weather conditions valid until 10am on Monday 22 January.
"Starting from today's evening - explains the warning - and until the morning of the day after tomorrow, there will be a general decrease in temperatures in Sardinia associated with the possible formation of ice on the road surface which mainly affects inland areas".
Snow on Molise, temperatures dropping by 10 degrees
The expected wave of bad weather has arrived in Molise.
Since last night it has been snowing above 500 metres, however it is light rainfall which is not causing any inconvenience.
Many municipalities were painted white, including Campobasso.
Rainfall in the mountains is more significant.
10 centimeters of snow fell on the ski resort of Campitello Matese, a hamlet in the municipality of San Massimo (Campobasso).
In Campobasso the temperature, this morning around zero degrees, dropped by about ten degrees compared to yesterday.
