Two Lebanese soldiers were killed and three others were wounded in an ambush by a car theft gang in northeastern Lebanon today.
In a statement carried by the Lebanese National Media Agency, the Lebanese army said, "While a patrol from the Intelligence Directorate pursued a stolen car in the area of Al-Mushrif Al-Hermel, it was ambushed and opened fire, killing two members, wounding three, killing one of the shooters, and arresting the driver of the car."
To that, Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab stressed that the attack "targets the stability that the Lebanese army plays an essential role in protecting, and that any attack on the Lebanese army is an aggression against the Lebanese in all their categories and regions," stressing the need to expedite the arrest of the aggressors.
