The right has a golden opportunity for upheaval 2.0

The last line-up of the election again manages to bring forth sincere sincerity from the left: a blue-and-white campaign compares the prime minister to the anti-Semitic and murderous dictator Erdogan; Yair Lapid calls some 2 million right-wing supporters "harsh, disgusting, a river of filth"; Waasa Kosher, the National Moral Evangelist and Ethical Code editor, defines Netanyahu and his supporters as "gangs of crime and evil" and longs for civil war.

The Left's commitment to victory, even at the cost of destroying and dismantling Israeli society, has been met with the last two rounds of contempt and indifference from right-wing voters. The right-wingers who stayed at home in April and September are divided into two groups: those for whom "Netanyahu is not right," and out of Marxist despair, wish things were worse, that is, the left will rise to power - so that it will eventually be better; And those who draw inspiration from Hegel and Fukuyama ("the end of history"), that the world is moving to a good and progressive place, so even a middle and lower leader will not change the economy of history.

These are wrong and dangerous assumptions, especially when it comes to Israel - a country that will not have a second chance if you lose a war. For example, among historians, there is almost a wall-to-wall consensus that, had it not been for David Ben-Gurion, the State of Israel would not have been established in 1948. In other words, the leader is not just in the play, but in his power to shape and change reality - if he has three main qualities: a solid ideological basis, political skills to fulfill the ideology and the ability to identify struggles and withstand the pressures.

Netanyahu, for all his faults, is leading Israel safely to the best of its history, and has been proving for two decades that it was cast from "Ben-Gurionic" materials. Many times Netanyahu could be credited with Sharon's media disengagement in disengagement - but as a paraphrase of the cliche, he chose to see things from here, just as he saw them from there. Once Netanyahu identified strategic issues at the core of Israel's interests, he did not hesitate to fight for them also against a popular US president like Obama (the nuclear agreement), a powerful security establishment (the Egyptian fence) and a populist media (the gas outline, economic reform as prime minister and finance minister).

On the other hand, Gantz and Torch are "Shabat" leaders who also value the most fatal issues in accordance with the public mood. In the absence of an ideological backbone, Torch was, for example, able to oppose the US unilateral exit from the nuclear deal, and within a few days, when it became clear that Trump was ready for his advice - to "congratulate" the president on signing the agreement. "In a Democratic president who is likely to act to revive the nuclear agreement - Torch and Gantz will not confront him.

More so, the only non-Bibi camp because he owes his reign to the joint list and Ayman Odeh, who prides himself on striving to "break the Zionist hegemony". As a result, MK Ram Ben Barak recently admitted that if Gantz wins, the word "Jewish" will be removed from the settlement in the national law. This is after Gantz did not deny a ministerial appointment from the joint list, which also demanded the head of the interior committee. These, since a minority government led by Gantz will for the first time give governmental legitimacy to undermine Israel's Zionist identity.

In such a state of affairs, the achievements of the last decade will go down. Anyone now complaining about poor building permits outside the blocs - will suddenly find themselves struggling against evictions; The justified outrage over the infiltration of the “infiltrators and praise” issues could be replaced by a campaign against the castration of the Citizenship Law and a reptilian right to return; hopes of breaking the left-wing monopoly on television and radio will give way to a ruling mouthpiece against existing right-wing media.

Leftists who believe that the end to the rule of law, the implementation of the Trump plan and the release of Israel from the committees and the Histadrut are in the ranks of Job - should certainly fear Gantz's loss. On the other hand, the right has a golden opportunity for upheaval 2.0 - followed by a demand from Netanyahu to put an end to such statements that say "will not pass in the High Court" or "need the court's approval". Skepticism is always required when Netanyahu is in business, but even if the right time stays home, there is no hope whatsoever. Don't say day will come - today is today.
