The Schongauer Volksfest will probably no longer exist in its previous form. Showman Ronny Grubart, who reactivated the Volksfest in 2015, has ideas for a new event in a different setting. However, this should only be tightened after the elections. Whether this will still work for this year is questionable.
Schongau - The news of the short-term cancellation of the Schongauer Volksfest made a big round online in the middle of last year. Even today Ronny Grubart, showman from Argenbrühl, regrets the cancellation of the fifth folk festival under his direction. But for the first time in 30 years, the date of another traditional event that the family has been supporting for 40 years has taken place at the same time. At that time, Grubart gave priority to the children's festival near Ulm, and the Schongauer Volksfest date was canceled, because at the same time both parties had not wanted to be populated. "Completely or not at all," the organizer had told the Schongauer Nachrichten. "We're just pausing, next year we will continue as usual," said Grubart in June 2019.
A new event, but no longer a festival
Will the 159th Schongauer Volksfest take place this year after a year off at the end of the holiday? "It is difficult, there will be no direct folk festival in the future," Grubart indicates this week when asked by the home newspaper. So not a festival? The showman is very covered, it is too early for a specific statement. But he has "a few ideas," he says. "There should be a new event in a different setting, we want to spice it up again."
Talks with the city are expected to continue after the elections
So the Schongauer Volksfest is a discontinued model? According to Grubart, he is in contact with Mayor Falk Sluyterman. "We will get together in the near future, that has to be discussed in peace," says Grubart. "I can only say this much: It will be a bit difficult what I want to do and it will be completely different." The talks with the city of Schongau should take place soon after the local elections on March 15, because Grubart is already in the middle of the Planning for the new season, the appointment book is gradually filling up. "It may well be that we are not considering this event until 2021," the showman suggests. He would be only too happy to implement his plans for Schongau, if they come up open ears. But he promises that there will be overlaps in appointments like last year, something like that shouldn't exist anymore.
So far there are no dates for a replacement event
The city was unable to comment on this yesterday. So far, there is no appointment in the calendar. Most recently, the Schongauer Volksfest took place on the last summer holiday weekend. The Volksfestplatz is currently only reserved for the period between August 1st and 20th. The Historic Market takes place there between August 7th and 16th.
