The Lycée Français de Vienne announced on Friday that it would be closed for 14 days from Monday, following the contamination by a coronavirus of a student returning from an evangelical gathering in France, which has become a major source of contamination.

" The coronavirus test carried out on a 6th grade pupil, present in the establishment during the day of Tuesday March 3, turned out to be positive ", wrote the school in a press release sent at the end of the afternoon. " The school administration was informed of this today at 11.51 am by the Austrian authorities [...] and took the decision in coordination with the Austrian health authorities to close the establishment until Friday March 20 inclusive ", a indicated the establishment.
According to health authorities in the capital, the schoolboy was infected during an evangelical gathering of about 2,000 people which was held in Mulhouse (eastern France), from February 17 to 24, and contaminated several dozen faithful domiciled throughout France, up to Guyana, a department of Overseas, located in South America. The schoolboy developed symptoms on his return to Austria and was placed with his relatives in quarantine at home. Thursday evening, the high school had asked the children enrolled in the same class as him to stay at home.
Children and staff who have been in prolonged contact with the young Frenchman are cared for by the Austrian authorities, who tell them what to do on a case-by-case basis. Austria registered until Friday 55 cases contamination with the new coronavirus.
