High school students from Brenner Regional Council were able to return to the school bench yesterday, just before the gates were locked again. There were 1,151 students who were in isolation after their classmate was diagnosed with Corona.
The students did return to the school bench - but notebooks and books were there only for the late Purim after the Purim celebration they missed. Ariel Sukowski (15), a ninth-grader, said: "For eight days we were in solitary confinement. It was hard at first, but slowly I got used to it."
He said, "We talked a lot in different camera software, we would spend time together. Getting out of isolation was exciting and fun. It was very strange to leave home and meet friends again. We got rid of the mask and switched to Purim's mask."
Guy Barkai (15) said of the reception: "We handed out shirts with the words 'End of Insulation' written on it. It's like the end of a track - it was an easy time."
On the Purim party, he added: "Me and the friends were dressed as belly dancers. It was a last-minute costume because we were sure there would be no Purim party. It was a group costume, but everyone made it home alone in isolation."
Guy added that "it was impossible to make the costume together, so everyone took clothes and cloths that he had in the house, carrots and pasted, and then we photographed each other to see how it came out. The end result was excellent and we were thrilled."
