Italy fights plague: The deadliest circadian corona virus history was recorded in Italy today after 250 people died from covid-19 disease nationwide.
The new figure raises the number of deaths from the country's virus to 1,266, a twenty-five percent increase since yesterday and the biggest increase in day-to-day mortality.
The number of corona cases in Italy has risen to 17,660, of which 1,439 are active patients. In doing so, Italy for the first time overtook China as the country with the largest number of active patients in the world.
The World Health Organization announced this evening that the focal point of the global epidemic had first moved to mainland Europe, another that had been in East Asia for the previous two months.
Satellite images revealed today show how the closure of industry in northern Italy has led to a significant reduction in air pollution in the country. The industrialized Lombardy province was the first to be hit by the corona eruption in the state and many factories have been closed there for over three weeks.
