Broadcasting fee is increased: KEF makes recommendation
The Commission for the Determination of the Financial Needs of the Broadcasting Institutions (KEF) handed over its report with this recommendation to the federal states in Berlin on Thursday, who have the final say on the matter and still have to decide on it.
In addition to satellite broadcasting, the KEF's main area of responsibility is to check the financial requirements of public service broadcasting in Germany and to recommend the state parliaments to fix the broadcasting fee. The legal basis of the whole is the Interstate Broadcasting Treaty, which regulates the amount of the contribution on the one hand and the distribution of funds on the other.
Broadcasting fee: Still declining in 2015 - now significantly increased
The KEF was convinced that the increase in the radio fee would ensure adequate funding. The chairman Heinz Fischer-Heidlberger therefore asked the respective countries to implement the whole thing quickly.
