Augsburg - Augsburgers are literally spoiled for choice in the upcoming local elections on Sunday, March 15th . They can no longer choose their long-time CSU Mayor Kurt Gribl as their head. But that's not all - you also have to choose between 13 candidates.

Almost every party offers its candidate for the coveted office. The CSU, SPD and Greens have dominated the broad electorate for years. Gribl has been at the top of the city since 2008 and has therefore already passed two local elections. He did not have to run for the run-off in 2014, although that happens quite often in Augsburg. With 51.9 percent, the CSU member clearly prevailed against his SPD rival Stefan Kiefer with only 28 percent. The Greens were, as usual, the third strongest party, but they were far behind with only 6.5 percent. Several independent voter groups are also standing for election for the city council *.

The CSU led the way in January with 36 percent, followed by the Greens with 25 percent. Free voters and AfD were still there with ten percent each.
