China called on the United States to take a responsible stance, stop its malicious accusations and slanders against it, take an objective view on the policy of civilian military integration in China, and make more efforts to promote Sino-US relations and international cooperation instead of undermining them.
Xinhua quoted Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang as saying at a press conference today that China reiterates its strong dissatisfaction and strong opposition to the deformation and slanders that the United States repeatedly makes against the right of China's civil military integration policy.
And US Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Ford published an article yesterday on the US State Department website saying that the policy of "civilian military integration" in China brings a challenge to national security and a threat to the United States and other countries.
"Regarding the US claim that China poses a threat to global security, I would like to point out that, according to a survey conducted by the Pew Research Center in February last year, 45 percent of those surveyed believed that the United States posed a serious threat to the world," he added.
The spokesman pointed out that "this practice, which was born out of the cold war mentality, contradicts the spirit of international cooperation and the trend of the times."
