This evening, part of the upper wall of an old and unoccupied house in the first baleh market collapsed opposite the door of the bazaar gathering in the city of Latakia, and the damage was limited to simple materials.

The head of the city council, Eng. Ahmed Al-Hallaq, told SANA that weather factors, along with the erosion of some old parts of the abandoned building, led to the collapse of the wall, pointing out that the council had previously issued warnings to demolish these parts that could fall on the site within the old city.

He pointed out that the council's workshops, in cooperation with the Protection of the Old City, worked immediately to follow safety precautions by demolishing the parts near the wall that could fall and removing the rubble from the place in the interest of public safety.

He stressed that the workshops will intensify campaigns on similar buildings within the city with the Department of Protection of the Old City to take safety measures.

The director of the Old City Department, Engineer Yanal Kengrawi, pointed out, in turn, that coordination was made with the various directorates in the city council to speed up the response, including with the Directorate of Hygiene, whose workshops worked to remove the deficiency within a short period of return, as it was noticeable that the damage was limited to an umbrella and a simple within the market.
