This time we will really go through it together

Since the establishment of the state, there has not been an existential challenge that can unite at a speedy pace the entire Israeli society. To date, most of the emergencies have resulted from security challenges and have largely resulted directly from the 100-year conflict. The Jews knew which side they were facing, and the Arabs, at least most of them, also knew which side they were on. In every security campaign that Israel has come out of or is caught in, the Jewish consensus naturally supported, and the Arab consensus opposed. Each party for its own reasons, each side of the narrative on which it grows and is educated.

Luckily for us, and although Israel is in no small part of risk, we have not experienced a danger that does not differentiate between us and does not divide us. The Corona virus is a new type of enemy that, along with its damage and threats, can also connect all shades of society. As much as it causes panic and fear, it may have a positive dimension to it. It unites all citizens of the state and strengthens the mutual guarantee. This is perhaps the first time that when we say "we will go through it together", we really mean "together", everyone.

This week I went to visit the Rambam Medical Center and take a closer look at the experience and experience experienced by the medical staff, Jews and Arabs, nurses, doctors and doctors and wonderful farm workers, who work under stress and risk for all citizens of the state. Who ever asks about nationality or origin at the entrance For treatment in a medical center in Israel? Not only at the Rambam: all clinics, hospitals and emergency centers in Israel. They all work together, as professionals, as human beings, as citizens of each other, helping and supporting each other to save human lives and prevent danger from others. It is the greatness and beautiful time of a company that prefers to see the good in everything.

By the way, we received a "trailer" for this welcome phenomenon in the winter storm that flooded the streets of Nahariya, with residents of the surrounding Arab communities "flocking in tractors" to help their Jewish neighbors.

In every other emergency, attack, war, assault, especially in the age of social networking, when each of us has "media outlets" in hand, medical teams are forced to be at the forefront, both in providing care and criticizing and sometimes in physical assault. But now, in the days of rallying against the dire danger, they fight like fighters on the battlefield and they know they will win and know that by the time they win they will have to sacrifice quite a bit.

This is a test time for Israeli society as a whole. We will also go through this difficult and dangerous period together. And immediately afterwards, we should place at the entrance to every medical center a memorial commemorating the work of all medical staff and their devotion to mind these days. They are teaching Israeli society an important lesson these days.
