A total of 5,476 people have been killed by the corovavirus pandemic in Italy, where 651 people have died in the past 24 hours, according to figures released Sunday March 22 by civil protection.

The death toll from the past 24 hours is lower than that announced on Saturday (793, a record), but it is the second heaviest death toll since the start of the pandemic.
The total number of positive cases increased again by just over 10% (59,158 or 5,560 more than on Saturday).
