Wolfratshausen - shopping, pharmacies, going for a walk: "Wolfratshausers stick together during the crisis," says Michael Winterholler. This conclusion can be drawn from the voluntary commitment with which many citizens want to help their grandparents, neighbors or even strangers up to now in times of exit restrictions. The city of Wolfratshausen and the neighborhood aid “Citizens for Citizens” have established a network within a few days in which many volunteers want to get involved. The impetus for this came from Wolfratshauser Michael Winterholler.

Michael WinterhollerThe Wolfratshauser initiated the initiative - and triggered a wave of helpfulness.

"I have heard of many private offers of help," says Winterholler in an interview with our newspaper. Private individuals who, above all, offered older or sick Wolfrats houses to take care of things for them so that they did not have to leave the house during the Corona pandemic. A huge wave of willingness to help has arisen, especially on the social network Facebook. "Much of this has been lost in the wealth of information," says Winterholler. He then founded the group “WOR Mit Together - For Each Other”.

It is an attempt to “bring all the threads together,” explains Winterholler. Buyers, walkers or pharmacy goers are to be brought to the man or woman quickly and safely via the platform. The virtual community was filling up rapidly: more than 230 Wolfratshausers have already come together. Over 30 of them have registered as active volunteers with the initiators of the relief campaign. "These volunteers are on the gun," emphasizes Winterholler.

He is pleased that his action has met with such a response: "It is really nice to see Wolfratshausen stick together when it matters." Neighborhood aid Citizens for Citizens joined the campaign. "It is a great initiative," says Chairman Peter Lobenstein, referring to the general enthusiasm for the relief effort. Especially within the network that his association has established in the senior sector, "we are trying to promote the campaign". Because: "Very few seniors who can now use help are active on Facebook."

In order to address those in need of help, flyers with all the information were distributed in shops, pharmacies and at doctors. "The helpers are ready," says Lobenstein - however, the initiators have not yet received many requests for help. With the increased outdoor advertising, Lobenstein hopes to specifically reach the Wolfratshausers who now need support because they do not want to go shopping or to the pharmacy in times of the rampant coronavirus.

Franz Gehring, former head of the main office in the Wolfratshaus town hall, coordinates the helper operations. "Anyone who needs something can simply contact us and we will respond as quickly as possible." Since more than 30 helpers had already stretched out their hands, "we can take care of everyone and provide brisk support," reports Gehring. Many senior citizens or people with previous illnesses who are currently avoiding personal contact with other people "are already being supported by their families or neighbors," says Gehring, praising the willingness to help within the Loisach city. The offer that "Together - For Each Other" has created is "an addition". Because Gehring knows that not every senior can rely on family members - "and that's exactly what we are committed to."

Not only for: The offer is to be expanded. The volunteers also want to take care of everyday tasks for police officers, nursing staff or hospital employees and sales assistants who are currently in constant stress. "If there is a need for help because of the working hours, we are happy to provide support," says Gehring.

In the past few days, some group members have used the exit restriction to sew reusable mouthguards that are delivered to Wolfratshauser on order.
