Mr. Center's return

Last Thursday morning, Knesset member Yair Lapid was number 2 and a senior and key citizen of a large party, subordinate to a captain of the "Reck-No-Bibi" ship, and a greasy slogan machine in the big government-changing enterprise. By evening, the reality was reversed. Blue and White was transported to Grita, and Torch returned to play "Mr. Center," his favorite character, who was put in a deep freeze last year but underwent a speedy compromise procedure last week.

Even before the ink on request was dry and Boogie Ya'alon split the Magnz and Ashkenazi, Lapid stood in front of the cameras to make it clear that he played the role of Mr. Center, because this is the way and no fault. That week, he also published an opinion piece entitled "Really Not Just Bibi: This War of Ideas Has a Center for Solutions," explaining how only the center could "prevent the state from breaking down" while dispelling nightmarish threats and scripts to end democracy and extremists threatening our existence. The Haaretz newspaper, which until recently had been allocated torch for reasons of over-Leftism, has become a legitimate stage for distribution in the center line, perhaps because since the election, this is where its target audience congregates.

It is doubtful that Lapid believes that the center is indeed the solution. In the past he wrote that the idea of the center is a cover for those who want to "run for election without committing to speak." But this question is irrelevant, because Torch really has no interest in principles, ideas or policies. When he talks about the center, he means: I, Yair Lapid, is the center.

In Mr. Central's world, he is the sun at the center of the galaxy, and all elements of the sky are supposed to circle around and surrender to its gravity. He is not looking for a political bonfire of pragmatism and walking for the gold between the right and the left, he wants to be the bonfire himself, and also choose the tribe that sits around it.

This is why the countless lies, glazes and embarrassments that Torch provided wholesale on his Saturday as the center. He will skip between "First Source" and "Ha'aretz," and will run for the ultra-Orthodox and then they will crush the state coffers. When the audience is religious - there is no such thing as religion; When he is a secularist, incest is a cause for war. He wants the common list, but has never been involved with her in negotiations. The money may be buried between Yitzhar and Itamar, but it is also possible to support the Century Plan. The justice system is fraught, even if a few years ago he claimed the center needed urgent care because she was ill. The climax came in the past two weeks, during which Lapid managed to disseminate at least false information about the government's conduct in the Corona crisis, and a link between government directives to stay in homes to legitimize an unelected government. The Corona as an anti-democratic plot.

Underneath the beautiful words and moderation done by Torch's creator, nothing is hidden. Opinions vary, statements are contradictory, and reality is flexible plasticine. Only I and I stand in the middle of the circle and look around, and the one behind me and my side is an extremist who destroys the country - at least until Mr. Center needs it to fulfill his dream of conquering the Prime Minister's Office.
