According to a New York Times report, Governor Riyadh is in serious condition after being diagnosed with the virus • Dozens of royal family also infected • 41 people died in the kingdom

A senior Saudi prince serving as governor of Riyadh is in dire straits following the infection with the corona virus and COVID-19 disease, the New York Times reported Thursday morning.

Dozens of members of the Saudi royal family reportedly became involved in the global plague. Doctors at the exclusive hospital that is treating members of the al-Saud clan are preparing about 500 inpatient beds for other patients from the state's ruling family. This is according to an internal message sent by hospital officials. To date, 41 people have died in the Corona virus in Saudi Arabia and infected 2,932 people.

Governor of Riyadh is Prince Faisal bin Bender bin Abd al-Aziz al-Saud, diagnosed by two doctors affiliated with the prestigious King Faisal Hospital, and two doctors close to the royal family. Faisal was formerly an officer in the Saudi army and was probably in his 70s. He is the nephew of Saudi King Salman and the grandson of the Kingdom's founder. The governor of the capital Riyadh is one of the important positions in the country and King Salman himself has served in the past.

In a rush message emailed to senior doctors on Tuesday night and a copy of it reached the New York Times, King Faisal Medical Center officials wrote that the instructions should be followed and be prepared for preferred patients from around the state.

"We do not know how many cases we will receive, but this is a high alert. All chronic patients need to be evacuated immediately," it said, but only "urgent cases" will be accepted. It was also reported that every sick staff member would be treated at a different hospital to make room for the royals.

More than six weeks after Saudi Arabia reported the first diagnosis of a corona virus patient, the plague dreads the heart of the royal house. It is estimated that a maximum of 150 monarchs have been exposed to the virus, including members of the lesser branches. This is how a person close to the family told The New York Times.

84-year-old King Salman isolates himself for his safety in a palace near the Red Sea coast of Jeddah, while 34-year-old Mayor Muhammad bin Salman, along with many Saudi ministers, has moved to a more northern site where he plans to build the city.
