Coronavirus: the 1,000 death mark reached in Africa, according to an AFP count

The new coronavirus pandemic has killed 1,000 in Africa since its appearance in China in December, three-quarters of which in Algeria, Egypt, Morocco and South Africa, according to an AFP report from official sources. Friday at 8:00 p.m. GMT.

According to officially recorded figures -1000 deaths for 19,334 cases, Africa is with Oceania one of the continents least affected by the pandemic which has killed at least 150,147 people in the world. Algeria is the African country which deplores the highest number of deaths on its soil (364), ahead of Egypt (205), Morocco (135) and South Africa (50).
