Almost two months later, the number of infected in the country is close to 700,000 and more than 33,000 people have died. But this first patient received life-saving treatment. Dr. Diaz is an infectious disease specialist at Providence Regional Medical Center in Washington, where he continues to lead the fight against covid-19.
